What you will do

•

Microtomy

Perform microtomy procedures accurately and efficiently to support diagnostic services.

•

Embedding

Undertake tissue embedding activities with precision and attention to quality standards.

•

Histopathology Processing

Carry out a range of Biomedical Scientist duties within the Histopathology laboratory.

•

Quality Assurance

Ensure all laboratory procedures are completed in line with relevant quality standards and protocols.

•

Equipment Maintenance

Operate, maintain, and monitor histopathology equipment to ensure optimal performance.

•

Documentation

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements.

•

Team Collaboration

Work closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

•

Health and Safety

Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures, infection control measures, and professional standards.

Qualifications / Requirements

•

Biomedical Science Qualification

Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised qualification.

•

Registration

Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.

•

Histopathology Experience

Previous experience working within a Histopathology laboratory setting.

•

Microtomy Skills

Demonstrable experience performing microtomy is essential.

•

Embedding Experience

Experience in tissue embedding processes is required.

•

Laboratory Knowledge

Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, quality standards, and best practice within Histopathology.

•

Communication Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

•

Attention to Detail

High level of accuracy and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
