What you will do
•
Diagnostic Testing
Perform routine and specialist laboratory investigations within Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion departments.
•
Equipment Operation
Operate Siemens Advia analysers in Haematology, Werfen TOP analysers in Coagulation, and Ortho Swift systems in Blood Transfusion.
•
Quality Assurance
Ensure all testing is performed in accordance with laboratory protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
•
Result Analysis
Produce accurate and reliable diagnostic results to support effective patient care and clinical decision-making.
•
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures on laboratory equipment.
•
Laboratory Compliance
Adhere to health and safety regulations, infection prevention protocols, and laboratory best practice standards.
•
Team Collaboration
Work closely with Biomedical Scientists, Pathologists, Clinicians, and wider healthcare teams to deliver an efficient diagnostic service.
•
Record Keeping
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and electronic records in line with departmental requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
•
Biomedical Science Qualification
Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised qualification.
•
Registration
Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
•
Experience
Previous experience working within Haematology, Coagulation, and/or Blood Transfusion laboratories.
•
Technical Knowledge
Experience using automated laboratory analysers and understanding of diagnostic testing processes.
•
Laboratory Skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
•
Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
•
Teamwork
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
•
Flexibility
Willingness to participate in a range of shift patterns, including long days and nights if required.
