What you will do
•
Specialist Assessments
Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with disabilities, complex health needs, chronic illnesses, and social care needs.
•
Intervention Planning
Develop and implement personalised intervention plans designed to maximise independence and participation in daily activities.
•
Complex Case Management
Manage complex and highly complex cases, providing specialist advice and recommendations.
•
Equipment Recommendations
Assess and recommend specialist equipment, adaptations, and assistive technology to support children in home, school, and community environments.

Family-Centred Practice
Work closely with children, young people, and their families to ensure their views, wishes, and goals inform all care and support planning.
•
Multi-Agency Working
Collaborate with health professionals, social workers, housing teams, education providers, and other partner agencies to deliver coordinated support.
•
Risk Assessment
Identify risks and develop strategies that promote safety, independence, and positive outcomes.
•
Report Writing
Prepare detailed assessments, recommendations, and reports to support funding, adaptations, and care planning processes.
•
Advocacy
Promote choice, inclusion, and participation for children and young people with disabilities.
Qualifications / Requirements
•
Occupational Therapy Qualification
Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent recognised qualification.
•
Registration
Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
•
Children's Services Experience
Previous experience working with children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
•
Assessment Skills
Strong experience undertaking specialist assessments and developing intervention plans.
•
Equipment and Adaptations Knowledge
Experience recommending equipment, assistive technology, and environmental adaptations.
•
Communication Skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
•
Multi-Agency Working
Ability to work effectively with families, carers, schools, healthcare providers, and social care professionals.
•
Driving Licence
Full UK driving licence is essential.
