MAIN CLINICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The main duties and responsibilities are outlined in this job description, subject to review. The post holder will hold responsibility for the day-to-day management of all patients on the ICU in conjunction with the Intensive Care consultant. A full ward round with the MDT is held each morning and a secondary clinical round every evening, including holidays and weekends. Review and assessment of direct referrals to the ICU or via the Outreach service. NON-CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder will participate in the development and updating of administrative and clinical protocols The post holder will actively participate in education programmes in the hospital and will show a willingness to undertake continuing professional development. They will attend the Journal Club. The post holder will participate in the hospitals quality improvement action plan (to be discussed with Dr Waheed on appointment) and adverse incident / sentinel event reporting program and will attend Morbidity and Mortality Meetings Person Specification Applicants for this post should demonstrate how their skills and experience meet the following Person Specification. Experience and Knowledge Essential Good understanding of both spoken and written English Broad training in all aspects of Intensive Care Medicine Ability to manage the acutely unwell and deteriorating patient Ability to recognise the dying patient and administer end of life care Evidence of an interest in research Skills and abilities Essential Analytical skills Ability to work as part of a team Ability to develop personal research projects and exercise initiative Ability to present at conferences and seminars with authority and coherence Attendance at internal seminars clinical audit, mortality and morbidity meetings Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write technical reports clearly and succinctly for publication Ability to demonstrate innovative and original thinking Ability to organise and prioritise work with minimal supervision Ability to meet deadlines
