About this role
Employability Skills Lecturer (Part time 0.4)
Shape Futures. Change Lives. Become a Lecturer at NCG
Help adults gain the skills, confidence and opportunities to transform their futures.
At Southwark College, we believe education changes lives. Every year, we support hundreds of adults from diverse backgrounds to develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need to progress into employment, further study and rewarding careers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational Employability Skills Lecturer to join our Adult Skills and Education team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping adults overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their career ambitions.
You will teach engaging employability programmes that develop the knowledge, behaviours and practical skills employers value. Working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, you will create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every learner can succeed and progress.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with experience of delivering employability or vocational training to adults. You will have strong knowledge of current recruitment practices, employer expectations and the local labour market, together with the ability to motivate learners and prepare them for sustainable employment.
We work closely with employers across London to ensure our programmes respond to workforce needs. Therefore, experience of developing employer partnerships, arranging employer engagement activities and supporting learners into employment would be highly desirable.
What you'll do
Plan and deliver learning
- Design and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons.
- Create engaging learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
Support learner development
- Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care.
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement.
Enhance curriculum and quality
- Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards.
- Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
Collaborate and uphold standards
- Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience.
- Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.
What we're looking for
- Experience of delivering employability programmes linked to the health and social care sector, including supporting learners into NHS or social care careers.
- Knowledge of recruitment processes within the NHS, health and care employers or related sectors.
- Experience of working with local employers to arrange workplace visits, guest speakers, mock interviews and recruitment events.
- Experience of delivering accredited employability qualifications and embedding English, maths and digital skills into vocational learning.
Safeguarding
NCG is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All roles are subject to pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with a check of the children's barred list, where applicable.
