About this role

This role provides an opportunity to develop experience in service management while working as part of a team to deliver the wider division’s key priorities. Planned Care covers a diverse range of services, and the post holder will support teams across several clinical areas.

The post holder will support the service management team across a range of medical specialties, contributing to the delivery of key national and local standards, including RTT, cancer and diagnostic waiting time targets. Working with service managers and clinical leads, they will help ensure services are safe, efficient and aligned with the Trust’s CARES values. The service team manages divisional medical staffing and on-call rotas, and the post holder will oversee the day-to-day running of these rotas.

There will be an element of line management. The role will provide effective leadership to the team, supporting them to ensure administrative duties are completed effectively, the service rotas are maintained to a high standard, having oversight of any staffing issues, and escalating to the relevant Service Managers.

The Assistant Service Manager will be required to liaise with service managers and clinical leads to ensure that performance and access targets are met, identifying areas for improvement. They will also need to work with data and data quality to complete timely data submissions and assist in the production specific service reports.
