About the Role
• We are seeking a caring, reliable, and patient Personal Assistant to support our son, a young person with additional needs. He is non-verbal, can use some basic sign communication, and requires assistance to interact with people outside of the immediate family. This role involves supporting our son to access to the community, ensuring safety, at all times and encouraging participation in enjoyable activities
Key Responsibilities
• Provide constant supervision due to vulnerability and lack of danger awareness, particularly around road traffic
• Collect from the family home and transport to and from activities in the local community
• Accompany and assist with activities such as
o Mini golf and bowling (e.g. at Llwyngwair Manor Holiday Park)
o Cinema visits
o Shopping trips
o Walks and outdoor activities
• Encourage participation in activities and promote enjoyment
• Support communication with others, including unfamiliar people, using simple signing and supportive approaches
• Build a positive, trusting relationship
