Job Purpose
To support the delivery of high-quality early years care and education by providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, develop and reach their full potential. The Early Years Support Person will work alongside the nursery team to support children’s individual needs, promote positive relationships and contribute to the effective operation of the setting.
Key Responsibilities
Support children’s learning and development through play-based activities and experiences.
Build warm, positive relationships with children, supporting their emotional wellbeing and confidence.
Assist with the planning and delivery of activities linked to the EYFS framework.
Observe children’s development and contribute to assessments, learning journals and next steps.
Support children’s individual needs, including children requiring additional support.
Encourage children’s independence, communication and social skills.
Promote positive behaviour through consistent and nurturing approaches.
Ensure children’s health, safety and welfare needs are met at all times.
Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment.
Support children’s daily routines, including mealtimes, personal care, sleep routines and transitions.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the nursery team.
Communicate professionally with children, families and other professionals.
Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and inclusion.
