About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for ensuring production is delivered safely, efficiently and profitably, while meeting customer expectations for quality, cost and delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing production, planning, purchasing, warehouse operations, facilities and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in driving operational performance and supporting future business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Lead manufacturing operations across welding, fabrication, assembly and warehouse functions.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor productivity, labour utilisation and operational performance.
- Lead daily production meetings and resolve operational issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Planning & Supply Chain
- Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Manage purchasing and material planning to ensure production continuity.
- Support supplier performance, inventory control and cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor key performance indicators including On-Time Delivery (OTD), Productivity and Work in Progress (WIP).
Warehouse, Facilities & Compliance
- Manage warehouse operations, stock accuracy and dispatch.
- Ensure facilities, plant and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with UK legislation.
- Lead risk assessments, audits and corrective actions where required.
Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop operational teams and supervisors.
- Set objectives, conduct performance reviews and support training and succession planning.
- Foster a positive, accountable and collaborative working environment.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role.
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience within fabrication, engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of production planning and supply chain processes.
- Experience leading multiple departments and teams.
- Current NEBOSH qualification and a good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement training.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and/or AS9100.
