About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for ensuring production is delivered safely, efficiently and profitably, while meeting customer expectations for quality, cost and delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing production, planning, purchasing, warehouse operations, facilities and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in driving operational performance and supporting future business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Lead manufacturing operations across welding, fabrication, assembly and warehouse functions.
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor productivity, labour utilisation and operational performance.
  • Lead daily production meetings and resolve operational issues.
  • Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Planning & Supply Chain

  • Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Manage purchasing and material planning to ensure production continuity.
  • Support supplier performance, inventory control and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including On-Time Delivery (OTD), Productivity and Work in Progress (WIP).

Warehouse, Facilities & Compliance

  • Manage warehouse operations, stock accuracy and dispatch.
  • Ensure facilities, plant and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with UK legislation.
  • Lead risk assessments, audits and corrective actions where required.

Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop operational teams and supervisors.
  • Set objectives, conduct performance reviews and support training and succession planning.
  • Foster a positive, accountable and collaborative working environment.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Experience within fabrication, engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning and supply chain processes.
  • Experience leading multiple departments and teams.
  • Current NEBOSH qualification and a good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement training.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and/or AS9100.
