What you will do
•
Case Management
Manage a varied caseload of children and families requiring safeguarding intervention and support.
•
Assessments
Complete statutory assessments, including Child and Family Assessments, parenting assessments, and risk assessments.
•
Care Planning
Develop, implement, and review child protection and care plans alongside families and partner agencies.
•
Safeguarding
Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, taking timely action to protect children in accordance with legislation and local procedures.
•
Professional Meetings
Lead and participate in child protection conferences, strategy meetings, core groups, and other statutory forums.
•
Relationship Building
Build positive and effective relationships with children and families, ensuring the child's voice remains central to all planning.
•
Court Work
Prepare detailed reports for court proceedings, conferences, and statutory reviews.
•
Multi-Agency Working
Work closely with schools, health professionals, police, legal representatives, and other agencies to coordinate support and interventions.

Record Keeping
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using electronic case management systems.
•
Professional Development
Participate in supervision, reflective practice, training, and ongoing learning opportunities.
Qualifications / Requirements
•
Social Work Qualification
Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent recognised qualification.
•
Registration
Current Social Work England registration.
•
Experience
Previous experience within statutory Children's Social Care, particularly safeguarding or child protection services.
•
Legislative Knowledge
Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and associated statutory guidance.
•
Assessment Skills
Experience conducting statutory assessments, care planning, and risk analysis.
•
Decision-Making Ability
Capable of managing complex cases and making sound professional judgements under pressure.
•
Communication Skills
Excellent assessment, analytical, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
•
Partnership Working
Proven ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary professionals and partner agencies.
•
IT Skills
Competent in the use of electronic social care recording and case management systems.
Desirable Requirements
•
Court Experience
Knowledge and experience of court work and public law proceedings.
•
Practice Models
Understanding of Signs of Safety, restorative practice, or strengths-based approaches.
•
Practice Education
Practice Educator qualification or willingness to support and mentor student social workers.
•
Driving Licence
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
