About this role

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will manage a varied caseload across our General Medical inpatient services, supporting patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions, including endocrine and cardiac presentations. Working as an autonomous practitioner, you will use your clinical reasoning and core Occupational Therapy skills to assess patients, promote independence, facilitate safe discharge and contribute to positive patient outcomes. Alongside your clinical role, you will support the development of junior colleagues, therapy assistants and Occupational Therapy students through supervision, teaching and practice education. You will also have opportunities to contribute to service improvement, quality initiatives and the continued development of the Occupational Therapy role within General Medicine. There is scope to further develop the Occupational Therapy contribution to Cardiac Rehabilitation, building on core Occupational Therapy interventions such as pacing, energy conservation, fatigue management and supporting long-term self-management. The role currently operates Monday to Friday; however, as our services continue to evolve, there is an expectation that future developments may include weekend working as part of a seven-day therapy service. Any changes would be introduced through consultation and service planning. For a full comprehensive list of main responsibilities and duties, please kindly refer to job description and personal specification attached.
