About the Service

Cardiff Family Advice and Support is an innovative service within Cardiff Council's Children's Services and is proud to hold a Families First Quality Award. The service provides information, advice, and assistance to children, young people, and families, ensuring they receive the support they need through a strengths-based and collaborative approach. Working closely with partner organisations, the team focuses on early intervention and effective support to improve outcomes for families.

What you will do

Wellbeing Assessments

Assess the wellbeing needs of families, particularly those caring for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs.

Short-Term Interventions

Deliver practical and focused interventions to support families in overcoming challenges.

Advice and Guidance

Provide specialist disability-related information, advice, and signposting to relevant services and support networks.

Family Empowerment

Help families identify and build upon their strengths while accessing appropriate support and resources.

Partnership Working

Collaborate with professionals, agencies, and community organisations to coordinate effective support.

Risk Awareness

Recognise and respond to potential safeguarding concerns, consulting with social workers and partner agencies as required.

Support Planning

Assist families in understanding available services, funding options, and community resources.

Record Keeping

Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with organisational standards and procedures.

What we are looking for

Relevant Experience

Experience working with children, young people, families, or vulnerable individuals within a support, care, education, or community setting.

Knowledge of Disabilities

Strong understanding of the impact disabilities and additional needs can have on child development and family life.

Communication Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of people.

Relationship Building

Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with families, colleagues, and partner organisations.

Resilience

Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in challenging situations.

IT Skills

Competent in Microsoft Office applications and electronic case management systems.

Driving Requirement

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
