About this role

The Buckinghamshire Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic therapist to continue their career in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

We are looking to recruit a band 6 speech and language therapist to work in our Team. This is a community post, ability to drive and access to a car is essential. The post is based at Wycombe hospital with appointments offered remotely and in patients homes and communities according to need.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated speech and language therapist who is eager to learn as well as bring a fresh perspective to the service. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. You will be expected to work independently but to seek professional support and supervision from senior colleagues where necessary.

  • To manage a defined caseload and work autonomously, with regular support/supervision from the speech and language therapy team.
  • To identify, assess and make a differential diagnosis of communication and swallowing impairments and select appropriate patients and type of therapy for effective treatment.
  • To develop clinical skills and professional knowledge through experience, training and supervision and to work towards developing competencies in agreed areas of patient management.
  • To take part in the supervision of students.
  • To take part in supervision of the work of rehabilitation assistants and volunteers when required.
  • To take part in the development and delivery of training to others
