About this role

We're looking for someone to join our Warwick Trident team as an Instructor Technician in Motor Vehicle and Motorsport on a permanent, full time basis.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

The post sits within the Department of Motor Vehicle and Construction. The Department provides training and assessment for apprenticeships, work placed assessments, full and part time courses from levels 1 to 3 and Higher Education at the college’s Trident, Pershore and Rugby Centres. The post holder will join the existing Motor Vehicle team and be responsible to the Head of School for the area.

The post holder will provide practical instruction to relevant industry standards. You will be working with teaching and learning staff where you will provide practical training and instruction to students in practical subjects both on an individual and group basis.

POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION

The post holder will be a member of the department of Motor Vehicle and Construction and will join the Motor Vehicle workshop delivery team at our Warwick Trident Campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To develop the skills of students within the subject area and provide a high standard of

technical support.

● To demonstrate practical skills, methods, techniques.

● Assessing student competence of the practical skill(s) and giving the associated

feedback.

● Ensure students can demonstrate skills and behaviours required for the successful

completion of the qualification or course and ensure they provide the knowledge that

underpins the practical instruction.

● Support training in the demonstration or explanation of skills or behaviours required.

● Utilise prepared Scheme of Work to instruct / prepare sessions.

● Complete relevant assessment paperwork, which can include questioning students to check understanding of the practical task/skill/behaviour.

● To maintain resources and prepare and set up physical materials and equipment for

horticultural related activities.

● To carry out any such maintenance on all tools and workshop equipment.

● To order workshop equipment and materials in conjunction with the team.

● To maintain the unit and equipment to current Health & Safety standards.

● To attend team meetings, open events, college tasters and outside events as

required.

● To ensure all students are aware of the Health & Safety guidelines in the unit.

● To attend College delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training.

In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

OFFERS OF WORK

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS

✓ A level 3 qualification in an automotive discipline, e.g. City & Guilds

Advanced Craft or NVQ Level 3 etc.

✓ Current experience in an automotive environment.

✓ Evidence of formal structured training in a relevant vocation.

✓ Vocational experience of working in industry and dealing with customers.

✓ Strong Administrative skills, including IT skills

✓ Assessor award A1, or equivalent, or a willingness to complete the award within 6 months of appointment.

DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS

✓ Experience of working with Awarding Bodies and knowledge of their systems and paperwork.

✓ Experience of working with outside agencies and organisations.
