JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic temporary opportunity for an Employability Tutor who is passionate about supporting young people to develop the skills, resilience and confidence they need to succeed in education, employment and life.
Working from the centre in Hornsea, you will deliver practical and engaging learning across Entry Level to Level 2 programmes, including Functional Skills and GCSE English and Maths. As the Employability Tutor you will support learners from initial assessment through to successful completion, helping them progress into employment, apprenticeships or further education.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a recognised teaching qualification, experience delivering learning to young people in a Further Education or post-16 setting, and the ability to create positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environments.
DUTIES
Your duties as the
Employability Tutor will include
•
Teaching and Learning
Deliver engaging employability and skills-based teaching to post-16 learners across Entry Level to Level 2 programmes
•
English and Maths Delivery
Teach Functional Skills and GCSE English and Maths, supporting learners to build confidence and achieve recognised qualifications
•
Learner Progress
Monitor progress, complete initial and ongoing assessments and set individual learning targets that support successful achievement
•
Lesson Planning
Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, individual learning plans, resources and learning activities that meet learner needs
•
Employability Development
Embed work readiness, behaviour, social skills, equality and diversity into teaching, learning and assessment activities
•
Assessment Support
Organise and support assessments, coursework, examinations and learner evidence in line with quality and compliance requirements
•
Pastoral Support
Provide tutorial and pastoral support, helping learners overcome barriers, stay engaged and progress positively
•
Records and Compliance
Maintain accurate learner records using ICT, MIS and tracking systems, ensuring administration is timely, complete and accurate
•
Partnership Working
Build effective links with apprenticeship tutors, external organisations and partners to support learner outcomes
•
Quality Improvement
Contribute to course reviews, curriculum development, standardisation meetings and ongoing improvements in teaching practice
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
• PGCE, Certificate in Education, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant vocational specialist subject
• Experience teaching young people within a Further Education, post-16 or similar learning environment
• Experience teaching English and Maths up to Level 2, Functional Skills and/or GCSE level
• Ability to plan and deliver programmes that meet individual learner needs within a group setting
• Experience embedding employability, social skills, English, Maths, equality and diversity into teaching and assessment
• Strong classroom management skills, including the ability to manage conflict and maintain positive behaviour standards
• Highly organised with good time management, written communication, verbal communication and digital skills
• Commitment to safeguarding, learner wellbeing, inclusion and high-quality education
DESIRABLE
• Experience working with learners with varying behaviour management needs and barriers to learning
• Experience designing, planning, tracking and monitoring teaching, learning and assessment activity in line with Ofsted standards
