About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and experienced female Health Care Assistant to provide full-time support to an elderly lady in the E4 8BA area.

The successful candidate will provide respectful, person-centred care while supporting the service user with her daily routine, wellbeing and independence.

Due to the service user’s communication, cultural and personal-care needs, applicants who speak Urdu, Bengali or Sylheti and understand Pakistani or Bangladeshi cultural practices are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a rewarding one-to-one care role suited to someone who is patient, attentive and committed to building a trusting professional relationship.

Roles and Responsibilities

Your duties will include

Providing high-quality, person-centred care in the service user’s home

Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene

Providing dignified continence support

Supporting the service user with toileting

Assisting with mobility, transfers and safe moving and handling

Prompting, assisting with or administering medication in line with the care plan

Preparing culturally appropriate meals

Supporting good nutrition and hydration

Assisting with light household duties related to the service user’s care

Providing companionship and emotional reassurance

Supporting the service user to follow her preferred daily routine

Encouraging independence wherever possible

Accompanying the service user to appointments, activities or community visits where required

Monitoring and reporting changes in health, mobility, mood or behaviour

Keeping accurate and confidential care records

Following care plans, risk assessments and company procedures

Safeguarding the service user from abuse, neglect and avoidable harm

Communicating professionally with family members, colleagues and healthcare professionals

Respecting the service user’s privacy, religious beliefs, cultural preferences and personal choices

Maintaining professional boundaries at all times

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has

Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant, Care Worker or Support Worker

Experience supporting elderly people in their own homes

Experience providing personal and intimate care

Current moving and manual handling knowledge or training

Experience with medication support or medication management

A valid Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check

A good understanding of safeguarding, dignity, confidentiality and person-centred care

Strong communication and listening skills

A calm, patient and compassionate approach

The ability to follow care plans and report concerns promptly

Good observation and record-keeping skills

The ability to work independently and responsibly

Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct

The right to work in the UK

Willingness to complete mandatory training and ongoing professional development

The following would be advantageous

Ability to communicate in Urdu, Bengali or Sylheti

Understanding of Pakistani or Bangladeshi food, customs, faith practices and family values

A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care

A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Working Pattern

Full-time position

Regular daytime hours, with exact times agreed according to the service user’s care plan

Some evening or weekend availability may be required

Applicants must be able to provide reliable and consistent support

Flexibility may be required for appointments or changes in the service user’s needs

This is primarily a one-to-one care position

This role involves intimate personal care for a female service user who has expressed a preference for care to be provided by a woman.
