About the Role
We are looking for an experienced male Health Care Assistant who is also a driver to support service users in their own homes in and around E4 9SE.
You will provide practical, emotional and personal care in accordance with each service user’s assessed needs, preferences and care plan.
This is more than completing daily tasks. You will help people feel safe, respected and supported while encouraging them to remain as independent as possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
Your duties may include
Delivering high-quality, person-centred care
Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene
Providing respectful continence support
Supporting catheter and stoma care where required
Assisting with mobility, transfers and safe moving and handling
Prompting, assisting with or administering medication
Completing medication administration records accurately
Supporting people living with dementia
Supporting adults with physical or learning disabilities
Providing palliative or end-of-life care where required
Responding calmly to distress or behaviours that challenge
Preparing meals and supporting nutrition and hydration
Providing companionship and emotional reassurance
Supporting service users to attend appointments and community activities
Encouraging independence and participation in daily routines
Monitoring and reporting changes in health, mood or behaviour
Maintaining accurate and confidential care records
Following care plans, risk assessments and company procedures
Safeguarding vulnerable adults
Communicating with relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals
Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
Driving between service users’ homes and appointments where required
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Candidates must have
Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, Care Worker or Support Worker
Experience providing personal and intimate care
A valid UK driving licence
Access to a reliable vehicle for work
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check
Current manual handling training or relevant practical experience
Experience with medication prompting, administration and record-keeping
A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and person-centred care
Strong communication and listening skills
A calm, patient and compassionate approach
Good observation, reporting and record-keeping skills
The ability to follow care plans and risk assessments
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct
The right to work in the UK
Willingness to complete mandatory training and ongoing professional development
A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential where relevant experience can be demonstrated.
Working Pattern and Days
Full-time and part-time hours may be available
Flexible shifts, including mornings, afternoons and evenings
Weekend and bank holiday availability may be required
Night shifts may be available depending on service-user needs
Rotas will be provided in advance where possible
Flexibility to cover additional shifts is desirable
Travel between service users’ homes in and around E4 9SE will be required
Applicants must be dependable and able to commit to agreed shifts
