Role overview

Lead civil engineering works in a live 24/7 port environment.

My client is an independent civil engineering contractor delivering complex work across coasts & ports, energy, water utilities, infrastructure and buildings.

They are looking for a Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead the safe planning and delivery of marine and landside construction projects within a live operational port environment.

This role takes full responsibility for project delivery, ensuring work is delivered safely, to programme, and to the required quality standards, while maintaining strong coordination across stakeholders, contractors and operational teams.

Job description

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of construction and engineering works across marine and landside scopes
  • Develop and manage project programmes, sequencing and delivery plans, including lookaheads and risk mitigation
  • Manage client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, mobilisation and performance management
  • Coordinate design management, approvals and technical assurance to ensure compliant delivery
  • Drive site team performance, supporting development and maintaining high standards of delivery
  • Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and all health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Maintain quality assurance processes, documentation and successful commissioning and handover

Requirements

  • Experience delivering civil engineering or construction projects in complex operational environments (e.g. ports, infrastructure, utilities)
  • Proven ability to manage programme, sequencing and delivery under constraints
  • Strong knowledge of UK health & safety regulations, including CDM 2015
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary works and subcontractor interfaces
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and contract administration capability

Desirable

  • Marine or port environment project experience
  • Temporary Works / lifting operations or First Aid qualifications
  • Relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in civil engineering or construction

Location & travel

  • Site-based role within a secure port environment in Kent
  • Travel between project locations required
