What you will do

  • Complete Regulation 24 viability assessments and Connected Person assessments for prospective kinship carers.
  • Undertake Special Guardianship and fostering assessments, preparing detailed reports for Fostering Panels and court proceedings where required.
  • Assess children’s needs and actively contribute to permanence planning, ensuring all decisions are child-centred and evidence-based.
  • Provide expert guidance, dedicated support, and supervision to kinship carers, assisting them in accessing appropriate services and resources to support their important roles.
  • Facilitate and lead in preparation training, support groups, and engagement events, fostering a vibrant community for kinship families.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Registration & Compliance

  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Sound knowledge of key legislation and standards, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Care Standards Act 2000, Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services, Special Guardianship Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the Equality Act 2010.
