About this role

An experienced Biomedical Scientist to assist the Head of Blood Transfusion in managing a team of staff in the department with responsibility for providing a comprehensive, high quality 24/7 Blood Transfusion service to all HSL clients, in particular for UCLH as it holds Blood Establishment Authorisation. As a Blood Establishment, the department provides its own irradiated blood products. The post is responsible for developing, (undertaking when necessary) and advising on both routine and specialised haematological investigations providing a Blood Transfusion support service. The post also carries a responsibility of working with the Training and Development Senior BMS to ensure competency and training is maintained to the required standard.
