About this role

Fortuneswell ward is a 20 bed in-patient ward specialising in the care of adults with cancer and haematological disease. The ward commonly manages patients who are admitted with acute problems relating to their cancer or its treatment and also palliative patients with complex symptom issues. In addition the ward accommodates outlying patients from other specialities.

UK Sponsorship

This role is eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, as defined by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). We welcome applications from individuals who require sponsorship to work in the UK. Sponsorship will be offered subject to meeting UKVI eligibility criteria.

We are looking for an experienced Band 5 Registered Nurse who is motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in caring for patients with cancer and to support the Nursing team on the ward. Knowledge and experience of working in an acute NHS Trust is desirable.

You should have an interest in oncology and/or haemato-oncology. You must be able to work shifts and be flexible to meet the needs of the service. You must possess excellent communication skills and will ideally be competent at venepuncture and cannulation but not essential. Qualifications and experience in administering chemotherapy would be advantageous to the applicant but are NOT required for this role, we are looking for good medical nurses who are keen and willing to train.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their nursing career in oncology/haematology with training available in post.

There may be opportunity to embark on a rotational post that would include the chemotherapy outpatient unit and time spent with the acute oncology team. This can be discussed further at the interview stage.

We understand that AI can be a useful tool when completing your application. However, we are seeing an increasing over-reliance of AI tools, which can negatively affect your application as it reduces a candidate’s individuality, and makes it difficult for us to gain a clear and authentic understanding of your experience, skills, and in turn your suitability for the role.

All submissions must be truthful and if you do use AI, it should only be used to enhance your application and not create your supporting statement in its entirety. Your supporting statement should be in your own words and must accurately reflect your personal experience and achievements. Where we have concerns that AI has been used to generate content that misrepresents your experience and suitability for the role, we may withdraw your application.

Our DCHFT Job Description and Person Specification (attached) tells you all about this role, what to expect and what is needed to succeed. When completing your application please make sure to tell us how your experience and skills fit the person specification.
