Salary

£13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours

30:00 hours per week – working 6 days in 7 across Monday

  • Sunday – 07:00/19:00
  • for 5 weeks, and then the 6th week off.Supporting two seperate shifts, either 07:00-16:00 Letter Deliveries or 13:00
  • 19:00 Parcel Deliveries.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays at Chester Delivery Office, CH1 3AA.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced

  • Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
  • Driving a Royal Mail van daily
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
  • Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van.

You’ll need

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
