Join Sodexo as a Weekend Cook in Accrington and make a real difference every weekend. In this independent, lone-working role, you'll prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff in an Approved Premises, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment. You'll take ownership of all aspects of food preparation while playing an important role in supporting a service that helps individuals successfully transition back into the community. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills to make a meaningful difference.
What you'll do
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff, following planned menus.
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, managing your workload independently and ensuring meals are prepared and served on time.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness across the kitchen and dining areas.
- Monitor and replenish kitchen stock, ensuring ingredients, equipment, and cleaning supplies are always available.
- Build positive working relationships with on-site colleagues, communicating effectively to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene procedures, working confidently and responsibly in a lone-working environment.
What you bring
- Previous experience in a professional cooking or catering role is essential, with a good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen procedures.
- Confident working independently, with the ability to manage your time, prioritise tasks, and keep the kitchen running smoothly.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive, with the confidence to work effectively in a lone-working environment.
- A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to build good working relationships while following procedures and site requirements.
