About this role
Health, Wellbeing & Yoga Instructor
Location
HMP Addiewell
We're looking for a passionate and motivated Health, Wellbeing & Yoga Instructor to join our Rehabilitation Team at HMP Addiewell. This is a rewarding opportunity to inspire, educate and empower people in custody by delivering engaging programmes focused on health, mental wellbeing, yoga, meditation and breathing techniques. Through practical and classroom-based learning, you'll help learners develop valuable life skills, improve their wellbeing, and support their journey towards successful rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
HMP Addiewell is a high-security establishment focused on helping individuals change the direction of their lives. We prioritise addressing offending behaviour through targeted programmes and close work with professionals, while providing education, training and employment opportunities that build practical skills. We also work with community partners to support positive futures after release.
At Sodexo, our culture is built on three hallmarks: Be Positive, Be Courageous and Be the Difference.
We encourage our people to Be Positive by creating hope and respect in every interaction, Be Courageous by safely challenging behaviours that don't support a positive environment, and Be the Difference by taking actions that improve outcomes for those we support.
By living these hallmarks every day, you'll help build routines, behaviours and opportunities that inspire meaningful change. Every interaction matters, and every day is a chance to make a lasting impact.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging health, wellbeing and yoga sessions using a variety of teaching methods.
- Deliver both practical and classroom-based learning focused on mental wellbeing, physical health, yoga, meditation and breathing exercises.
- Adapt your teaching approach to support learners with a range of educational backgrounds and learning needs.
- Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records and prepare learners for assessments where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support rehabilitation, sentence management and positive resettlement outcomes.
- Encourage learners to build confidence, practical life skills and recognised qualifications.
- Promote education and wellbeing opportunities, actively encouraging participation across the prison.
- Ensure teaching meets quality standards, awarding body requirements and prison KPIs.
- Contribute to curriculum development, course reviews and continuous improvement.
