About the Role

As Sous Chef, you'll support the Head Chef and Chef Manager in delivering an exceptional food service while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, health and safety.

You'll help lead the kitchen team, ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and contribute to creating a positive dining experience for every customer.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and cook meals to agreed recipes, quality standards and portion sizes.
  • Ensure all meals are served on time and meet both Sodexo and client expectations.
  • Maintain exceptional food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety standards, including accurate temperature records.
  • Assist with menu planning and development.
  • Manage and monitor kitchen cleaning schedules.
  • Support the Head Chef/Chef Manager with budgeting, ordering, stock control and stock takes.
  • Ensure all catering equipment is used safely, maintained correctly and any faults are reported promptly.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and ensure compliance with company policies and food safety legislation.
  • Participate in training, safety initiatives and continuous professional development.
  • Carry out additional duties as required, including supporting site operations such as unloading deliveries where appropriate.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is passionate about food, organised under pressure and committed to delivering excellent service.

You'll ideally have

  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 (or equivalent professional cookery qualification)
  • REHIS Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) – essential
  • At least two years' catering or commercial kitchen experience
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, COSHH and health & safety regulations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement
