What you will do
- Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment, adhering to safety protocols, to deliver high-quality Sonography examinations.
- Prioritise patient safety and comfort during examinations, ensuring accurate and comprehensive diagnostic results.
- Review patient medical histories and clinical information to make informed decisions during examinations.
- Confirm that Sonography examination orders are complete, relevant, and meet medical necessity standards.
- Assess any contraindications, ensuring patients are adequately prepared and can tolerate examination procedures.
- Use correct patient positioning tools and devices, and adjust equipment ergonomically to prevent data compromise and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for Sonographers.
Qualifications and registration required
- Level 2 Sonographer requires RDMS or RDCS certification with two or more years of post-graduate experience from an accredited institution. Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or UK equivalent is essential. Additional certifications in areas like Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Adult Echo are beneficial.
- Level 3 Sonographer requires additional certifications beyond Level 2, including Vascular, Breast, Musculoskeletal, Paediatric Echo, Fetal Echo, and Paediatric Sonography.
- Schedule and shift requirements include working all shifts, totaling 35 hours per week.
