About this role
Are you an experienced SEN Specialist, a senior Learning Support professional, or an aspiring SENCO looking to step into a leadership capacity without the classroom teaching commitment?
We are partnering with the outstanding Academy in Greenwich to recruit a dedicated and highly motivated Assistant SENCO for a maternity cover contract. This is a brilliant opportunity to join one of the most successful academies in London, known for its incredible student-first culture, exceptional behaviour, and supportive leadership team.
This is a non-teaching position, making it the perfect fit for an experienced SEN practitioner, HLTA, or education professional looking to focus 100% of their energy on SEND provision, coordination, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provision Management
Coordinate and oversee the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and targeted interventions across the academy.
-
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and deploy a skilled team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to ensure high-impact classroom support.
-
Collaboration
Work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the local authority to review progress and tailor support.
-
Assessment & Tracking
Monitor, track, and report on the academic and social progress of SEND students using data to adapt provisions.
-
Inclusion Advocate
Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusive practice across the entire school community.
What We Are Looking For
-
Experience
A proven track record of working with SEND pupils in a secondary mainstream or specialist setting. Experience in an Assistant SENCO, Lead LSA, or HLTA role is highly desirable.
-
Qualifications
While Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is welcome, it is not required for this non-teaching post. We want to hear from highly experienced SEND professionals with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
-
Skills
Exceptional organisation, strong communication skills, and the ability to inspire both staff and students.
-
Mindset
A warm, resilient, and proactive professional who believes that every child, regardless of barrier, can achieve greatness.
Why Join Harris Academy Greenwich?
"Ofsted Outstanding in all areas - Academy is renowned for its world-class professional development and collaborative, friendly working environment."
-
Collaborative Network
Gain access to the incredible resources, training, and support of the wider network.
-
Impeccable Behaviour
Benefit from a highly structured, calm, and respectful environment where teachers can teach and pupils want to learn.
-
