Your Role as a Supply Teaching Assistant

Working standard school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, you will support primary school pupils across Okehampton and surrounding areas with their academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities

-

Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.

-

Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with pupils who need extra support in reading, writing, and maths.

-

Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children from Reception to Year 6.

-

Adapting quickly to different school environments and team dynamics.

Requirements

You do not need a formal teaching qualification to apply, but experience working with young people is essential. We highly value transferable skills from various backgrounds.

Experience

Proven experience working with children or young people (e.g., in youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering).

Hours

Ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.

Key Skills

Excellent communication, patience, reliability, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.

Vetting

Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Randstad.
