The Opportunity

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual looking to remove barriers to learning for our youngest pupils? We are seeking an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team across mainstream schools in Liverpool this September. This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with Nursery and Reception students who have diverse needs-including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, and complex learning requirements-ensuring every child feels safe, included, and empowered to grow from their very first steps in education.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in both early years classroom management and individual pupil development

Individualised Support

Provide one-on-one and small group support, tailoring your approach to meet the specific early learning and sensory needs of the child/children.

Learning Facilitation

Assist the lead teacher in implementing EYFS lesson plans and play-based educational activities, utilising specialised strategies to enhance the learning experience.

Inclusion & Wellbeing

Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes self-esteem, independence, and vital social interaction among early years pupils.

Behaviour Management

Promote positive behaviour using established early years techniques and school policies, dealing promptly with emotional regulation needs while encouraging pupil responsibility.

Progress Tracking

Collaborate with the SENDco and teaching staff to monitor, record, and report on pupil achievement, milestones, and progress within the EYFS framework.

Care & Safety

Ensure the safety of all pupils, providing crucial assistance with personal care, hygiene, or mobility where required in an early years setting.

Requirements & Experience

We are looking for a patient and caring individual who possesses

Experience

A minimum of 6 months of experience working in UK schools, nurseries, or a caregiving capacity (Special Education/Autism or Early Years experience highly preferred).

Compliance

An Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) and eligibility to work in the UK.

Communication

Strong verbal and written skills to effectively interact with young pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Attitude

A genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs in their early development and a commitment to long-term, full-time work.
