About this role
The clinical photography service includes routine clinical photography and video records, both in the studio and on location, photography and video in clinical trials, photography and video of operative and post mortem procedures, gross specimens, personal injury photography and photography of stillbirths. The photography team is led by a Photography Production Manager, with senior photographers taking responsibility for the day-to-day deployment of specialist skills.
The East of England Cleft Network offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary service for cleft lip and cleft palate at both Addenbrooke's (the 'hub' of the Network) and local 'spoke' hospitals. The Cleft lip and palate (CL&P) ‘core’ team consists of plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeon, orthodontists, specialist nursing staff, specialist speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, an audiologist, a paediatrician and a wider multi-disciplinary team, which includes radiographers, anaesthetists, ward staff, and clinical photographers. The clinical team are supported by numerous administrative and technical staff.
This is a specialist clinical photographer’s post that has special responsibility for working with the regional cleft lip and palate team. You will have a particular responsibility for supporting the Speech & Language Therapy service, nasendo¬scopy/ video fluoroscopy recordings and the ENT and Audiology services. Archiving of digital clinical records will be an important part of the role.

You will be a part of the clinical photography team, which is part of the Media Studio, working alongside the clinical photographers and video editor, and undertaking the full range of clinical photography tasks. This will include clinical photography in the Medical Photography Studio, wards, operating theatres and other clinical areas of the Trust, ophthalmic imaging, public relations photography and video camera operation and recording. He/she will have particular responsibility for the cleft team’s image requirements and will have regular involvement in CL&P multidisciplinary meetings, providing standardised photography of pre-op and 5-year audit images for comparison at audit reviews; and provide support to the Image Technician who will implement and maintain robust storage, archiving and cataloguing systems for CL&P images, in conjunction with the CL&P team and relevant IT staff.
You will maintain and update protocols for CL&P photography and 3d imaging, liaising with clinical photographers at the ‘Spoke’ hospitals to ensure that they are aware of, and compliant with, the CL&P protocols – especially with regard to audit records.
You will be responsible on a day-to-day basis for the output of the team in terms of both quality and timely delivery of clinical photography and 3d imaging, providing advice and training as necessary: primarily at CUH but also at the spoke hospitals.
Within the clinical photography team each Team Leader is responsible for the supervision and training of Medical Photographers, ensuring that the total needs of the team they are working in are met. Under the direction of the Photography Production Manager and in liaison with the cleft team, the Team Leader for cleft lip & palate photography will ensure that the agreed level of service is met or exceeded.
