The Role

Ready to make Stoke-on-Trent’s roads safer, smoother, and more reliable?

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking for skilled Highways Engineers to join a dynamic team delivering real improvements across our highway network.

You’ll lead on highway maintenance and resurfacing schemes, from reconstruction and inlays to preventative treatments that maximise the lifespan of our roads.

You’ll also play a key role in drainage improvements, including sustainable solutions, helping reduce flooding and protect communities.

Working closely with inspectors, contractors and local stakeholders, you’ll respond to defects, address community concerns, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Your work directly impacts road safety, reliability, and network resilience.

With ongoing investment in local transport, bus routes, active travel, and highway asset management, you’ll be part of shaping a more proactive, data-led approach to maintaining our network.

If you have proven experience delivering highway maintenance or resurfacing schemes on time, within budget, and to specification, this is your chance to join a forward-thinking team making a tangible difference.
