About this role
Providing a professional, friendly and empathetic reception service, acting as the first point of contact for patients, visitors and healthcare professionals. Greeting patients, responding to enquiries and directing them to the appropriate service or member of staff. Answering telephone calls promptly and courteously, managing patient enquiries and accurately recording messages where appropriate. Booking, cancelling and amending patient appointments in accordance with practice policies and procedures. Registering new patients and updating patient demographic information to ensure electronic records remain accurate and up to date. Processing patient referrals and supporting the coordination of appointments with GPs, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. Managing incoming and outgoing communications, including emails, Accurx requests and Total Triage submissions, ensuring these are actioned efficiently and within agreed timescales. Scanning, processing and accurately filing clinical and administrative documents onto patients' electronic medical records. Maintaining the reception and waiting areas to ensure they are clean, tidy, welcoming and well organised. Handling confidential patient information in accordance with GDPR, NHS confidentiality requirements and practice policies. Undertaking general administrative duties, including filing, document management, record keeping and other office tasks as required. Working collaboratively with doctors, nurses, administrative colleagues and other healthcare professionals to support the efficient day-to-day running of the practice. Following all practice policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and infection prevention and control guidelines. Contributing to a positive team environment and providing support to colleagues as required. Undertaking any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, as requested by the Practice Management Team.
