About the role This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a team of enthusiastic consultants, who are supported by colleagues in radiology and allied specialties. The Oral and Maxillofacial Department at Pinderfields Hospital is set in a spacious custom built clinical area benefiting from high specification equipment. The Trust has a clear vision to develop an integrated service across the district and whilst this position will be based at Pinderfields Hospital it will access dedicated elective facilities on the other sites within the Trust. Main duties The main duties of the post will include: • The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive acute and elective Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service. This post will be support a sub-specialist interest in the management of skin cancer and the development of a sentinel lymph node biopsy service and Mohs micrographic surgical service. • This post will include being a core member of the skin MDT in conjunction with Plastic Surgery, Dermatology and Histopathology • Delivery of outpatient clinics, elective inpatient and day case surgery in Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary • Urgent and emergency care duties including out of hours on call working within the provisions of working time regulations and safe working. On call duties are shared with Leeds Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit on a 1:12 rota currently assessed at 1PA. • Participation of teaching, training and audit, educational and clinical supervision of core trainees and specialist registrars currently assessed at 0.25PAs • Provision of advice and support to the clinical team and peers in a range of clinical and/or leadership situations in a professional and appropriate manner which inspires confidence, motivation, and teamwork within the field. Essential person specification requirements To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria: Full GMC Registration Inclusion on the GMC Specialist List for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Eligible for GDC registration Evidence of post CCT experience/qualifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery e.g. successful completion of SAC approved CCST training programme in OMFS (eligible if completion within 6 months of the date of the appointment) MBBS and BDS or equivalent MFDS, MRCS and FRCS (OMFS) ATLS provider status Eligibility to work in the UK Up to date knowledge, skills and attitudes to the practice of OMFS Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving Good time management Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services Able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and patients Caring and compassionate For the full Person Specification, including desirable criteria for the role, please refer to the attached document within the job description.
