About this role

A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

A great opportunity has arisen to join the St Georges, Epson and St Helier (gesh) group to undertake a key role working with the Group Director for Health, Safety and Non-Clinical Risk as the strategic and operational lead in the planning and delivery of the gesh Group Violence Prevention and Reduction (VPR) programme.

The role will involve working closely with and supporting corporate, clinical and operational teams (including in-house and contracted security teams), and staff trained as local security management specialists / security management experts) to ensure full compliance with the NHS England VPR Standard and driving improvements to reduce violence and aggression towards staff.

As an experienced security management professional with a track record of proven success in the introduction of VPR initiatives to reduce violence and aggression within a large and complex organisation, you will be working collaboratively across the gesh Group with senior colleagues to support the implementation of strategies and action plans, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts across the wider gesh Group clinical services (including community services) and resource requirements, regularly reviewing progress and acting where required.

Be the compliance lead for the violence prevention and reduction area of activity across the gesh Group by ensuring the NHSE VPR standard is being fully met and violence against staff is reduced using a variety of best practice methods and innovative solutions.

You will have comprehensive working knowledge of current NHS security management issues (Martyns Law, Protect, Operation Cavell, NHSE VPR Standard) and will bring with you significant experience of leading on initiatives, strategies and plans at a senior level within these areas.

Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.

At gesh we are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any flexibility they may need during the recruitment process.
