About this role

Providing professional and clinical leadership to special school nursing staff, ensuring that they are engaged with and adhering to local policies, guidelines and expectations. Act as a first line manager to members of the special school nursing team and engage with them to deliver a high standard of care. Be an expert and knowledgeable practitioner within the service ensuring the provision of high-qualityevidencednursing care for the child with a disability and their family. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic specialist nursing care in conjunction with the child / young person / family and carers. Ensure that nursing care is safe,effective,and caringand isconsistent with clinical guidelines. To act as a source of specialist advice for children, young people, and families in relation to their condition. Provide specific specialist education and training programmes and use information packages for children, young people, families, and lay carers, facilitating the development of self-care skills and knowledge. To work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement plans of care to enable children / young people to be cared for in the community. To follow Safeguarding Children policies and guidelines andparticipatein monitoring and interventions to meet the needs of children and young people. To attend Case Conferences and Team Around the Child and any other relevant Safeguarding Children meetings as required, to be lead professional as appropriate. To ensure there is a comprehensive health report for school reviews, caseconferences,and team around the child meetings. To conduct health assessments and developchild specifichealth plans ensuring that children with special medical/nursing/health needs have their needs met within the school settingtoreach their full potential in school. This will include delivery of clinical procedures. To adhere to and support the implementation of the Medicines in Schools Policy withparticular referenceto medication schedules for children with high medication need including the administration of rescue medication via rectal,buccal,and nasal routes following the protocolin order tomeet the child's health needs. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salaryIn addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
