This role is not limited to just printing repeat prescriptions. It requires a strong administrator with excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills, initiative, and the ability to work within established protocols. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and resolving routine prescription queries, ensuring that all necessary monitoring requirements have been met before medication is issued, and escalating any concerns or exceptions to senior prescribing team colleagues or the appropriate clinician. Duties include, but are not limited to: Processing repeat prescription requests accurately and within agreed timescales. Responding to routine repeat prescription enquiries from patients, pharmacies, and members of the practice team. Checking that appropriate monitoring requirements (such as blood tests, medication reviews, or other clinical monitoring) have been completed before prescriptions are issued, in accordance with practice protocols. Identifying prescriptions that require clinical review and referring these to the appropriate GP, prescribing clinician, or clinical pharmacist. Ensuring repeat prescribing records are maintained accurately and updated in line with practice procedures. Liaising with patients to advise when medication reviews or monitoring are required before further prescriptions can be authorised. Working closely with clinicians and senior prescribing team colleagues to support the safe and effective management of repeat prescribing. Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with data protection, information governance, and practice policies at all times. Contributing to the smooth running of the prescribing function by supporting continuous improvement of prescribing processes where appropriate. The post holder will be expected to work within clearly defined procedures and seek guidance from senior prescribing team colleagues and clinical staff where a request falls outside established protocols or requires clinical judgement.
