About this role
The post holder will work under the supervision of the GPs and nursing team to provide safe, effective and patient centred care within their scope of practice. Working pattern will be Tuesday and wednesday mornings between 8:30am - 1:00pm As a Healthcare Assistant you will undertake a range of clinical duties, including: Recording and documenting clinical observations, including height, weight,blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, pulse rate and rhythm. Undertaking phlebotomy, urinalysis, specimen collection and preparation of samples for laboratory transport. Performing ECG recordings. Providing simple wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures and clips within competency. Supporting chronic disease monitoring clinics and recall programmes. Undertaking New Patient Health Checks and NHS Health Checks. Administering vaccinations and injections, including Influenza, COVID-19, RSV and Vitamin B12, following appropriate training and competency assessment. Assisting clinicians with minor surgery, emergency situations and acting as a chaperone in accordance with Practice policies and procedures.

Provide compassionate, respectful and inclusive care, maintaining patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times. Promote health and wellbeing through lifestyle advice and signposting to appropriate services, supporting patients to understand their health needs and care plans. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues, ensuring concerns are listened to and escalated appropriately. Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring information is documented appropriately and concerns are escalated to the relevant clinician. Maintain clean, safe and well-stocked clinical areas, ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control procedures, cold chain requirements, equipment checks and stock management. Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to support the effective operation of the Practice and delivery of high-quality patient care. Participate in Practice meetings, mandatory training and continuing professional development activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge. Follow all Practice policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, information governance, health and safety, equality and diversity, and infection prevention and control.
