Full-Time | Permanent | Monday to Friday | £27,000 per annum
Brook Street Recruitment is delighted to be working with our Belfast-based client to recruit a full-time, permanent Insurance Claims Handler.
Our client is looking for an organised, customer-focused and empathetic individual to manage a caseload of insurance claims from first notification through to final settlement. The successful candidate will assess policy cover under the Structural Warranty scheme, investigate claims, liaise with all relevant parties and negotiate fair settlements while ensuring compliance with company procedures and helping to identify potentially fraudulent claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage new insurance claims from initial notification through to settlement or repudiation.
- Gather claim information, verify policy terms and guide customers through the claims process.
- Accurately record all claim details in line with company procedures and agreed service level agreements.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service, handling sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy and an awareness of vulnerable customers.
- Liaise with claimants, developers, loss adjusters and other key stakeholders to proactively progress claims to a successful conclusion.
- Manage customer expectations throughout the claims journey and communicate decisions clearly and professionally.
- Provide comprehensive verbal and written guidance on the Structural Warranty Policy and the ICW Consumer Code for New Homes in relation to policy cover and claims.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including Underwriting, Surveying and Technical teams, sharing best practice and supporting continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above), including English and Maths, or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience within the insurance industry, ideally in a claims handling environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a confident and professional telephone manner.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use initiative while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook, together with accurate keyboard skills.
