What skills and experience we're looking for

Good literacy and numeracy skills gained from general education to GCSE ‘O’ level/Adult Literacy and Numeracy level 2

Level 2 certificate in teaching and learning or equivalent together with a knowledge of child protection/procedures, together with a working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.

Good communications skills, written and oral

Excellent numeracy and literacy skills

Competent with computers and other technology

Able to understand and implement strategies and methods to help students make good progress

Understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion

Has strong behaviour management skills

Experience of working with young people or adults in a paid/voluntary capacity

Previous experience of working with children or young people with SEN

Previous experience of work with children or young people

Oak Grange Nursery and Primary School is a growing school located in the Boulton Moor/Chellaston area of Derby. Situated between Field Lane and Snelsmoor Lane, the school serves both the established Fellowlands community in Chellaston and the expanding Snelsmoor Lane development.

Since opening its doors to Nursery and Reception children in September 2023, Oak Grange has continued to grow year on year. From September 2026, the school will include:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant who will play an integral role within our team. The successful candidate will help ensure that every child at Oak Grange feels happy, safe, valued and supported to thrive as they begin their educational journey in our Nursery and Primary School.

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
