The Job

An opportunity has arisen for a commercially driven Farm Trader to join a successful agricultural business covering the Cambridge, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire region. This role would suit an experienced agricultural salesperson, someone from a farming background or an ambitious commercial professional looking to build a long term career within the agricultural sector.

Working autonomously across your territory, you will be responsible for developing new business, building strong relationships with farmers and helping customers maximise returns through effective crop marketing solutions. You will be supported by an experienced internal team while taking ownership of growing and managing your own customer base.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities while growing and maintaining a strong customer base
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with farmers and agricultural businesses across the region
  • Promote crop marketing services and provide practical commercial advice to customers
  • Identify opportunities to increase business growth and strengthen customer relationships
  • Provide market insight to support farmers in making informed commercial decisions
  • Represent the business professionally while promoting its values and services
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes

The Candidate

  • Previous experience within agricultural sales, grain trading, agronomy, farm advisory, machinery, fertiliser, or a similar commercial role would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of farming businesses with the confidence to build relationships and communicate effectively with farmers
  • Natural salesperson with the drive and ambition to identify opportunities and develop new business
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and commercial skills with the ability to work independently
  • Organised, self-motivated, and comfortable managing your own territory and workload
  • Agricultural knowledge or practical farming experience would be beneficial, although applications are welcomed from candidates with the right attitude and ambition
