LOCUM CONSULTANT AORTIC & ENDOVASCULAR SURGEON
The Liverpool Vascular & Endovascular Service (LiVES) is looking for a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular surgeon to join their growing team that delivers services across the region.
The Directorate of Vascular Surgery currently comprises 15 surgeons working flexibly to support the network. Each consultant has an elective job plan which involves sessions at one of our network sites, in addition to sessions at the Aintree site Hub. A total of 6 Consultants will contribute to the acute/on-call work supporting Liverpool Heart & Chest and they participate in complementary “C1” and “C2” rotas during which they are free of any elective commitments.

The unit provides up to date treatment for the full spectrum of vascular disease. Areas of special interest include complex aortic surgery, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), carotid endarterectomy, treatment of peripheral arterial disease (including complex endovascular, hybrid and distal/ultra-distal bypass surgery), deep venous intervention and thoracic outlet surgery. Endovenous management of varicose veins is undertaken in 3 spoke sites. All arterial surgery is undertaken at Aintree University Hospital hub site.
The successful applicant will become part of the specialist Aortic team, with a total of 6 Consultants contributing. They will undertake work at both Aintree University Hospital and Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital, participating in the daytime C2 rota at Aintree and the daytime L1 rota at the Heart and Chest hospital. They will be involved in the comprehensive assessment, management and follow up of patients with standard and complex aortic pathologies and will closely work with the cardiothoracic team at the Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital for thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic pathologies. They will also contribute in the realm of general vascular surgery and the management of patients at Aintree University Hospital, the hub site for the service.
