The Hampshire Equipment Service (HES) and Reablement Service aims to help individuals maintain independence at home, reduce the need for extensive care packages, prevent hospital admissions and facilitate rapid discharge. This role offers an excellent opportunity to kickstart or grow your career in community care.
We're committed to your personal development and you'll be given the opportunity to learn and shadow from members of the reablement multi-disciplinary team, to build positive relationships and expand your knowledge on the wider reablement service.
What you'll do
- Clean, prepare and carry out minor repairs to specialist equipment ready for re-issue.
- Return equipment promptly to stock to ensure it is available for clients when needed.
- Accurately record cleaned, returned and scrapped equipment using stock recording systems.
- Identify damaged or unrepairable equipment and report concerns to the Deputy Manager.
- Ensure equipment is accounted for and stored safely and securely.
- Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic warehouse, office and welfare environment, including toilet facilities.
- Assist with the unloading of delivery vehicles and movement of equipment.
- Support the Hampshire Equipment Service in delivering essential equipment to help people live independently.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies, procedures and guidance, taking appropriate action where concerns arise.
What we're looking for
- Commitment to always deliver a consistently high-quality service.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within the workplace.
- Knowledge of maintaining safe, secure and hygienic working environments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise your workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Practical problem-solving skills and a common-sense approach.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Commitment to demonstrating organisational values and behaviours in your work.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when supporting vulnerable adults.
- Physically able to undertake the daily moving, handling and transportation of equipment, including items such as hoists, bath lifts, commodes, specialist seating and bed components. Full manual handling training will be provided.
- Ability to work safely with cleaning products and decontamination chemicals as part of daily duties.
- Comfortable using display screen equipment (a hand held scanner).
The Council is planning a future procurement for equipment services in Hampshire. This could include the possibility of transferring to a new employer (under TUPE), as well as potential changes to responsibilities or working patterns.
