Floor Layer - Housing Repairs Team

About the Role

Based at our Bennet Road Depot (Reading, RG2 0QX), you will carry out floor laying and associated repair work in a variety of Council-owned or managed properties including houses, flats, and maisonettes.

Work will be carried out across Reading with no long-distance travel required.

This role involves working mainly in occupied homes, so delivering excellent customer service and treating residents with respect is essential.

Your duties will include

Installing a range of floor coverings including vinyl, laminate and modern flooring systems

Preparing subfloors and carrying out flooring repairs

Assessing materials required for jobs and collecting them from stores or suppliers

Completing work orders, job sheets and timesheets accurately

Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness

Identifying additional repair needs where necessary

Following health and safety procedures at all times

High-quality tools or tool allowance

Requirements

City & Guilds / NVQ in Floorcovering (or equivalent experience)

Experience in domestic flooring, repairs and refurbishment environments

Knowledge of building trades and construction

Ability to work independently and within a team

Strong customer‑service approach when working in occupied homes

Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship

Full UK driving licence (required for travelling between properties)
