Management Accountant

Abingdon – hybrid 3 days in the office.
Tetra Tech is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the Finance Business Partner and Operational Directors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands‑on management accounting experience who is ready to progress within a fast‑paced, collaborative and growing global organisation. Study support for AAT, ACCA or CIMA is available.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information across multiple accountability centres. You will support month‑end, deliver accurate reporting, and ensure financial controls remain strong, all within an environment focussed on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include
Preparing and analysing monthly management accounts
Explaining cost movements, variances and trends to support decision‑making
Preparing journals including accruals, prepayments and month‑end adjustments
Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
Completing key balance sheet and account reconciliations
Supporting the annual operating plan (AOP) and budgeting activities
Providing ad‑hoc analysis, reports and project support to Finance Business Partners

Technical Excellence in Management Accounting
Experience preparing month‑end accounts and managing core financial processes
Strong understanding of journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
Working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
Data Literacy, Analysis & Reporting
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
Ability to interpret financial information, identify patterns and articulate clear insights
Rigour, Accuracy & Process Control
High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining strong financial controls
Consistent, logical and deadline‑driven approach
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Clear and confident communication with finance and non‑finance colleagues
Ability to build supportive working relationships within and across teams

Mandatory Requirements
Experience in management accounting
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
Strong Excel capability
Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast‑paced finance environment
Desirable
Experience with fixed asset registers
Exposure to budgeting and forecasting
Experience performing detailed cost analysis
