The post holder will be a highly motivated and experienced Nurse who will offer leadership, expert advice, and continuous support to enhance the knowledge and skills for the workforce of MKUH on emergency care.
Responsible for the teaching and devising of in-house training and development programmes for all grades of workforce in the emergency department.
To maintain and improve standards of patient care through facilitation of training for clinical staff and non-clinical staff
To support and facilitate innovation in care provision in a structured, creative, and systematic way.
To develop and contribute to guidelines and implement developments in practice.
To work alongside the practice development team on Trust education and service development plans.
It is expected that the individual will be an expert practitioner in nursing with a high level of clinical credibility with the ability to establish close working relationships with senior nurses and medical staff and the ability to influence policy and practice.

Practice Development and Teaching
Develop and implement training programmes for the emergency department workforce to expand their knowledge and skills in emergency care, reflecting the Trust’s strategic objectives, standards, and statutory training requirements.
Lead the provision of development courses / training for staff all staff as appropriate on emergency care in line with Trust education policies.
Receive and interpret Trust communications, directives, policies, guidelines, corporate objectives, and present this to all levels of clinical staff.
Plan and contribute to the development of the new educational programmes.
Management / Professional
Undertake responsibilities, clinical care and directives as designated by the Matron and Divisional Chief Nurse.
Manage self, including planning work, delivering to deadlines, and monitoring the quality of own work. Co-ordinate with external providers to arrange guest speakers to support the practice education programme.
Education
Educating the workforce to deliver first line emergency care.
Works as a role model and supports high standards of care by working clinically alongside clinical and non-clinical staff.
Contributes to teaching and mentoring student nurses who undertake MKUH Hospital practice placements.
Operational
Contributes to the design, planning and development of the practice development service
Submits an annual report on practice development in emergency care to the Matron and Divisional Chief Nurse
In accordance with Trust policy undertakes risk assessments and manages / minimises risk to patients and staff effectively.
