To set up and support the Tumour Site Specific and Primary Care Groups, managing the organisation, secretariat, reporting and actions of these meetingsSupport the Clinical Leads in setting standards and providing quality assurance of cancer services across the Surrey and Sussex system to reduce variationDrive improvements in delivering the cancer constitutional targetsSupport the implementation of integrated services and pathway specific services locally through collaborative work across the Surrey and Sussex system and promote a sense of collective responsibility across partnersImprove cancer patients' experience and quality of life through the delivery of excellence in clinical care, research, and educationMaximise research and training across the systemThe Pathway Manager will need to interact and work collaboratively with clinicians, managers and external partners to deliver transformative, cost efficient changes, which are fit for purpose and affordable.
Project Management Responsibilities
To manage a complex diverse portfolio, flexing to need but consistently demonstrating measured change/deliveryTo effectively use methodologies and approaches to deliver transformational change including maximising quality and patient experienceTo work in a flexible, agile way across the whole SSCA agenda, moving across work streams when requiredTo capture and share learning from the cancer programme and contribute to best practice thinking on future delivery models and approaches To monitor compliance both internally and externally to ensure that changes conform to best practiceTo produce clear output documentation of work and store it appropriately on the shared areaTo write appropriate reports to be submitted to the boards of appropriate NHS partner organisations including data and financial analysis and detailed explanations supporting a change in service provision within one or more of the organisationsTo support Clinical Leads on new local policy development across Surrey and Sussex and within a defined tumour specific area and to influence and ensure its adoption across organisational departments and services; this will entail designing and developing strategic policies with a timeframe of up to 5 years.To meet predefined objectives through autonomous working and the provision of a range of leadership styles in a variety of environments including the ability to manage conflict, negotiate and drive change Stakeholder management To bring together diverse stakeholder groups with differing agendas to achieve mutual agreeable outcomes / deliverablesWork successfully with complex stakeholder groups, often dealing with ambiguity, complexity and conflicting opinions / viewsWork effectively with diverse patient groups to involve and engage users and carers in the delivery of service and pathway transformation and improvementsTo negotiate with all relevant stakeholders, the scope, size and timings of projects and the relevant project management and support requiredTo manage, motivate, persuade and influence multiple stakeholders and partners to ensure the timely completion of work across multiple NHS and voluntary organisations Delivery / Technical Aspects Delivering significant change in a measurable way, ensuring transformational changes are effectively implemented and fully sustainableAble to effectively implement service improvement techniques and approaches (see personal specification)Drive and deliver effective rapid diagnostic service plans and operations across the regionUndertake complex data and statistical analysis of multiple, non-comparable data sources creating new models and solutions for presentation to provide evidence for change.Work with multiple NHS and other providers to ensure consistent information collection and entry. Lead the analysis of this highly but frequently non-comparable complex data and present the evidence and recommendations for service change to a range of audiences including senior stakeholders, groups of patients and public groupsTo lead on the development and delivery of audit activities to measure service change and sustainability involving complex data collection and analysisManagement of Resources To contribute to the development of the SSCA budget planning, highlighting specific concerns relating to capacity and needs within the area of specialtyTo prioritise spending requests and authorise appropriate paymentsTo manage the recruitment of project staff as requiredTo line manage as appropriate and delegate responsibilities amongst a team of project managers or service staff to deliver changes across multiple servicesProvide support and training to other similar posts within the project
