Consultant Interventional Cardiologist | Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

About this role

The successful applicant will join a team of eleven consultant cardiologists at Frimley Park Hospital, including those with subspecialist expertise in heart failure, imaging, complex devices, electrophysiology and coronary intervention. Frimley Park Hospital is a primary PCI centre and the cardiology department has an inpatient zone of 30 beds, including a 10-bed CCU. The hospital is part of Frimley Health NHS Trust. This job is based at Frimley Park Hospital.

Clinical responsibilities include weekly cath lab sessions, cardiology in-reach into ED and AMU, outpatient clinics, referral triage, and attending the JCC MDT. The cath lab sessions will involve cover of fallow slots until regular slots in the cath lab become available. The hospital is about to start a cardiac MRI service, so accreditation in cardiac MRI is desirable to contribute to the supervision of lists and reporting of studies. Participation in the interventional cardiology on-call (primary PCI, emergency temporary pacing and pericardiocentesis) occurs on a 1 in 6 basis during the week, and on a 1 in 7 basis at the weekend. There is a 1 in 11 consultant of the week rota for covering CCU, the cardiology stepdown ward and inpatient cardiology referrals. Time will be provided for admin, including referral triage and advice and guidance to primary care. Non-clinical responsibilities include active participation in governance and medical audit. SPA time will also be provided for continuing professional development and fulfilling the required commitment for appraisal and revalidation.
