I am a mum looking for a kind, reliable, and energetic Personal Assistant to support my happy and active 6-year-old son.
My son is non-verbal and communicates using PECS. He is full of energy and loves to run, jump (especially on trampolines), and be on the move. He enjoys playing indoors with toy cars, listening to music, and engaging with phonics. He particularly loves singing, loves musicals and the cinema. He also loves messy play in the garden such as playing with pasta and other sensory activities.
He does not have any danger awareness, so I need someone who is very vigilant and able to keep him safe at all times, particularly as he may run off towards things that interest him such as dogs or bikes. He enjoys going to the local park, but this needs to be at quieter times as he can find busy environments overwhelming. Although he can be loud himself, he can also be sensitive to loud surroundings.
Screens and smartphones cannot be used around him, as he can become very focused on them in an unhealthy way.
The role will involve personal care as well as engaging him in fun, safe, and appropriate activities both at home and in the local area. We are moving from Faygate to Sompting hoping to be settled by mid June.
I am looking for someone who is patient, understanding, and energetic, with a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs. Experience is helpful but not essential, as long as you are willing to learn and follow guidance.
If you feel you would be a good fit and would like to make a positive difference, I would love to hear from you.
