This is an exciting opportunity to join our Coastal Management Service, Coastal Partners.
Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Management Service to five Local Authorities that reduce the risks to people, and the
developed and natural environment from coastal flooding and erosion. Our area includes three major Harbours of significant
environmental importance and over 246km of coastline. Rising sea levels and increasingly frequent storms are putting greater
pressure on our coastal communities and natural environments and as such we need to help our communities become more resilient in
the future.
We are looking for an exceptional, experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk
Management projects and strategic plans, which could include traditional coastal defence schemes, nature-based solutions, habitat
creation or coastal adaptation.
As a Coastal Engineer/Coastal Project Engineer, working as part of our Project Initiation and Strategic Overview Team, you will
undertake a Project Manager role, playing a vital part in helping our communities become more resilient to future climate change
impacts, and shaping our coastal landscapes for future generations.
As well as having proven experience as a project manager delivering projects involving multiple teams and external partners, we
are seeking someone who
* Shares a passion for working with communities at risk to help them adapt to coastal flooding and erosion
* Has excellent influencing, negotiation, and communication skills
* Has the ability to build strong collaborative local partnerships and relationships across a range of external and internal
stakeholders
* Has the ability to lead, develop, support, and coach a team to achieve their full potential
Desirable Attributes, but not essential, include
* Experience working within local government, government agencies, or the coastal management sector
* Knowledge of coastal adaptation approaches and nature-based solutions
* Experience in community co-produced initiatives
This role requires a degree level qualification in civil engineering, environmental management, geography, project management, or
related discipline, supported by a strong track record of relevant experience. This is a career graded post with the initial
salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
