About this role
If the idea of sitting behind a desk all day doesn't excite you, you're not alone.
There are other ways to start your career - ones that build confidence, develop real-world skills, and give you a sense of purpose from day one.
We're working with a network of secondary schools across Basingstoke and nearby areas, offering opportunities for graduates to step into Cover Supervisor positions.
No school experience? No problem.
This role is all about your presence, your communication, and your ability to take charge of a room. Everything else - we'll help you with.
Think of yourself as the person who keeps things moving when teachers are away.
You'll be
- Leading lessons using structured, ready-to-go materials
- Keeping students focused and engaged throughout the day
- Handling classroom behaviour in a calm, controlled way
- Following each school's systems and routines
- Updating staff on how lessons have gone
This isn't just a stop-gap job - it's a chance to test out a career path.
If teaching is something you've thought about, this gives you a genuine insight into school life before making any big decisions.
You'll also develop skills in communication, leadership, and adaptability - all of which are highly valued in any career.
And if you do decide to go into teaching, we can help connect you with local training routes, including salaried pathways to QTS.
We're open to graduates from all degree backgrounds, but we often hear from people in
- English, Maths, and Science
- Humanities subjects
- Sport & PE
- Psychology and related areas
More important than your degree is your mindset. We're looking for people who are
- Confident speaking in front of groups
- Calm and level-headed
- Quick to adapt
- Good at building rapport
- Flexible work that fits around your schedule
- Opportunities across schools in Basingstoke
- Daily pay of £120-£130 (PAYE)
- Free training in key areas like behaviour and safeguarding
- The chance to experience schools before starting
- Ongoing support from a team that genuinely has your back
